DirecTV vs. Cable: Truly No Comparison!

DirecTV vs. cable. Once upon a time, it was hard to see which was best: both had obvious good and bad points. Cable was almost everywhere and cost less, but a Directtv system could be installed anywhere, and the installation was free. Technology marches on, and it's beginning to become clear that Direct TV and its competitors, like Dish Network and Sky, are the ones poised to come out on top. Not only is the installation free (something cable could never say), there's a wider variety of packages and channels, the system components cost nothing for the consumer, all the channels are digital, and satellite systems are ready for the great HDTV switch that's coming up in a few years.

But what about local channels?

Despite what your fine cable providers might claim, it's easy to get local channels with Dishnetwork and DirectTV. In fact, all the basic packages include local television channels. Another objection to satellite television is the claim that bad weather can cause problems. In fact, the likelihood of that is very low -- whereas who among us hasn't lost their cable reception in really bad weather?

HDTV, a billion channels, digital quality... it's just not enough.

Did we mention that satellite TV reception is super sharp, you don't pay for system components or installation, you don't have to pay silly franchise fees, and best of all, that you actually have a choice? Remember, cable companies are monopolies: you either watch what they want you to watch, or do without. At least, that's how it used to be! Nowadays you can hunt up a local Direct TV or Dish Network retailer and get all your favorite channels and shows for the same rates cable charges. So... what are you waiting for?
